Well, it's not even 10am and yet I've been rushing around!!

I set my alarm to wake me up at 7:55am so I could do my blood sugar, Levemir and have breakfast. But when I woke up at saw it was 8:55am I realised I'd been a bit of an idiot and set the alarm for 7:55PM!

So, after swearing loudly, I rush to get the blood sugar done (a disappointing 12.5mmol) and take my Levemir and went to find some breakfast. Not a wide choice but Asda are coming today with a whole shop so there might be something better tomorrow :)

But anyway, I though I'd try and carb count according to the packaging!

I had some weird cereal from Devon with cranberries and raisins in and looked at the box.

30g of cereal had 21.6g of carb so I rounded it up to 22g

Next I got the milk. I use whole milk as I hear it's got fewer carbs. 4.7g per 100ml. I decided 100ml didn't look much so poured out 200ml which adds up to 9.4g of carb and I added this up to 10g.

I then added the carb values to give myself 32g of carbohydrate and as my insulin to carb ratio is 1:10, it should have been 3u of Novorapid but as I also want to get my levels back down, I gave myself 5u and will be checking blood sugar again in a couple of hours.

I also thought I'd investigate into the carb values of milk :)

Whole milk---- 4.7g per 100ml
Semi Skimmed milk--- 5g per 100ml
Semi Skimmed but with reduced fat (purple bottle)--- 4.6g per 100ml

I spoke to my Mum about it and she said to try the purple milk. Especially as it's got less than 1% fat aswell. So I'll give it a go tomorrow :)

Iam feeling pretty good today and so am listening to one of my favourite ever band's great feel song.

"Feeling Good" by Muse

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
Blossom in the tree you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For meStars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Had a hypo in the night (3.2mmol) so had some bread and honey. Am now at 10.0mmol and have take then usual Levemir and Novorapid so let's hope it settles down by 10am for my next test :)

Well I got a new toy today! :D

A few days ago I applied for a new meter and it arrived today! Its a MyLife Pura and looks like a mini iPod almost! I love it already. So easy to use! But my issue is that I can't get new strips for it until Tuesday and it only comes with 10 to use and I have all but 1 left! lol

Anyway, I've had good levels all day which I am chuffed to pieces about :)

8am- 8.0mmol
10am- 7.1mmol
12pm- 4.7mmol
2pm- 11.7mmol (bit high but it's not too bad!)
4pm- 8.8mmol
6pm- 12.2mmol (again, high :()
8pm- 7.4mmol
10pm- 8.3mmol

I think this is good considering I had a McDonald's for tea and was slightly panicking about what my BG might be!

So already, an average of 8.5mmol and considering I was running huge "HI"s a few days ago I am over the moon.

I cannot wait to start using my new meter properly. Roll on Tuesday!

My Mum and I found a fantastic recipe book the other day

"The Sweet Life" by Anthony Worral Thompson.

It has over 100 recipes which use Splena instead of sugar and I've just made my first pudding from the book. Raspberry Cranachan.

Not sampled it yet but hopefully it'll be yum! And the best part is, it only has 4g of carb per 100g! Fantastic says I! No need to dose myself up on extra insulin! :)

First, let me clearly say that I know next to NOTHING about politics but when I heard yesterday that Gordon Brown has resigned from his post as PM, I was quite glad. But to hear that David Cameron is now PM, I had mixed thoughts about it.

All I can say is that I hope he and Nick Clegg do a good job together and try to pull the U.K out of the shitter!

What a morning already! I woke up at 6:45am with a blood level of 5.5mmol when I felt like it was down to 2 or 3mmol! I also weighed myself this morning. 9stone 4lbs!! I know that doesn't sound like much to others but I personally want to get it to under 9stone and start exercising to get a toned tummy for summer :). I did the Levemir as I usually do. A whole 30units! I've recently increased it and it appears to have done the trick though I am aiming for levels of 6 or 7mmol rather than 5mmol when I wake.

I went to my first job of the day at 7:30 thinking that I had another at 9:30 when infact, I got to the 9:30 one which is actually scheduled for tomorrow morning instead! D'Oh! But at least I get another day to myself to catch up on the craziness of the world!

Well, it's great to have a log now!

I've struggled with Diabetes since the age of 16 and I am now 22! Quite appauling really as it really isn't the hardest thing in the world to control! I just don't think I have put enough effort in and I am more than willing to admit to that.

Anyway, got a hospital appointment next Tuesday which I am dreading! My last HbA1C was 10.9% and I want (no, I NEED) to get it to below 6%. It's going to take alot of effort on my part and carful monitoring of what I eat and drink and what exercise I do but at the end of the day, if it improves my health and quality of life, who am I to complain?!
